AIBTM 2011 registration is live: Get the Facts

Q. Nancy Walker, please outline the format for AIBTM 2011

 

A. It's a three day event but uniquely, the first day, June 21, is devoted entirely to Education. The 2 day trade show then follows from June 22-23. AIBTM is part of America Meetings Week which will also include the co-location of PCMA's Education Conference and the CIC 2011 Hall of Leaders Gala.

 

Q. This means AIBTM is providing dedicated time to both education and to the show?

 

A. The AIBTM Education Day is of key importance to this event. We (Reed Travel Exhibitions) organize a global portfolio of shows for the meetings industry worldwide and every one of these events has a substantial education element. Normally the "gold class standard" professional education program is available throughout each event, but for the launch of AIBTM we wanted all our stakeholders to benefit and be able to attend any of the seminars, conferences and workshops away from the show floor.

 

So we researched this format amongst all our stakeholders, and the results showed that the best use of their time at this inaugural event is to spend one day focused solely on professional education. Therefore, Tuesday, June 21st is dedicated to education and is available to everyone – including exhibitors, trade visitors and Hosted Buyers.

 

he following two days of trade show provide the same number of business hours as other Hosted Buyer events in the U.S. However, the key difference is that we dedicate an entire day to Education which is available to everyone. This allows both the exhibitor and buyer the freedom to attend education without the worry of trying to choose between a seminar or a pre-scheduled Hosted Buyer appointment.

 

Q. What is the cost of exhibiting and how does it compare to other industry events?

 

A. AIBTM is $68 per square foot - 26% less expensive than other Hosted Buyer Events. This is an incredible cost savings to any exhibitor. But key to our exhibiting community is what we will deliver for their investment, whatever the price per square foot. More and more companies are signing up weekly to attend, this huge support and commitment from our stakeholders is based on the experience they know they get at our portfolio of events around the world. Our exhibitors know we will deliver the quality of Hosted Buyer they expect.

 

Q. Liz Shipman, how much business will be done by the HB Community and how does the HB selection work?

 

A. AIBTM will deliver 3,000 U.S. and international meeting professionals, of which 2,000 are Hosted. The Hosted Buyer community will sign up to attend 8 appointments per day and 1 destination presentation. Each one of these is 20 minutes long. This means 7.5 hours or 360 appointment minutes per person or 640,000 meeting minutes. No other industry event in North America comes close to these figures. The Hosted Buyer team operates across 5 continents with the largest global database within the industry's buying and planning community. We also have offices based on the ground in each location, no other organiser has this global reach.

 

Q. Based on the above business schedule and HB selection process, do exhibitors get value for money?

 

A. As Nancy has already explained, per square foot you can't beat the value of AIBTM exhibition space. But this is only relevant if our exhibitors achieve their business objectives and ROI. The combination of AIBTM and America Meetings Week ensures that we deliver a high impact business environment.
