Friday 28, May 2010
On 20th May 2010 Air Berlin, the second largest German airline, won the "World Airline Award" for the sixth time in succession. This award is bestowed by Skytrax, the London-based consultancy company.
Other contenders for first place in the category "Best Low-Cost Airline Europe" included Easyjet and Norwegian.
Thomas Ney, Senior Executive Inflight Service Air Berlin Group: "The award means a great deal to Air Berlin, because it comes directly from the passengers. The continuity with which Air Berlin is awarded prizes by Skytrax shows that our commitment to quality and service is appreciated by millions of business travellers and holidaymakers throughout the world."
The "World Airline Awards" have been conferred since 1999. In the period from July 2009 to April 2010 more than 17.9 million airline travellers from 100 countries took part in the world’s largest passenger survey.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
