Air Berlin voted "Airline of the Year"
Friday 5, February 2010
Readers of the Swiss travel magazine "ReiseBlick" again chose Air Ber-lin as their "Airline of the Year" in the "Short Haul" category.
36 airlines were rated on the basis of criteria such as price-performance ratio, friendliness, catering, punctuality, safety, legroom, in-flight enter-tainment and child-friendliness. For the first time Air Berlin also featured among the top three in the "Medium Haul" category.
Air Berlin also gained the "Business Travel Award 2010" in the category "Best Short-Haul Airline". The competition included major companies, such as British Airways and bmi. The award was bestowed by an independent panel of journalists and experts from the travel industry primarily in recognition of Air Berlin’s excellent price-performance ratio, a factor that is becoming increasingly important in the price-sensitive business travel segment. The "Business Travel Awards" were created as the result of a merger between the "Buying Business Travel Diamond Awards" and the renowned "Business Travel World Awards".
Air Berlin regularly receives awards for its high standards of service and quality. The airline won more than 20 awards just in 2008 and 2009.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
