Angra Jazz festival - Jazz it up on the Mid-Atlantic Rift

Whistle, sway and rock away to the thump of the bold beats and jazz riffs of this year’s Angra Jazz Festival.

The internationally renowned Jazz Festival will be hitting the right notes once again this year from 1-4 October on the stunning Azorean island of Terceira in the charming, stone-paved town of Angra do Heroí smo, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Whether you’re a jazz enthusiast, or new to the scene, the festival offers something for everyone; cementing its place as one of the landmark music events in the Azores.

Featuring performances by some of the world’s best-known jazz musicians, the festival will be held in the Centro Cultural e Congressos. This year’s line up includes; Italian jazz drummer, Aldo Romana; French double bassist, Henri Texier and Joe Lovano, an American jazz saxophonist. There will also be performances by Mingus Dinasty and the Orquestra AngraJazz.

Destination Portugal www.destination-portugal.co.uk offers a seven night package during the Angra Jazz Festival from just £799pp. The price includes one night on San Miguel followed by six nights on Terceira on a BB basis plus a ticket for the Angra Jazz Festival and return flights from Gatwick with SATA International www.sata.pt. Early booking is recommended.

SATA International offers a weekly flight departing from London Gatwick and Manchester to Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island with prices from £265pp return. The flight takes under four hours and includes a hot in-flight meal, bar service and a generous baggage allowance. SATA Internacional also offers the most comprehensive inter-island connections throughout the Azores archipelago and prices start from £32pp for each inter-island flight.
