“Best Performing New Airline Award”
Thursday 18, February 2010
During the 10th Airline Marketing Workshop organised by Athens International Airport (AIA), Geneva-based Baboo airline received the “Best New Airline Award” for recording in 2009 the highest passenger traffic numbers, among all newcomers that launched scheduled operations in 2008.
Competing in this category were airlines that had introduced services to AIA in 2008 and that operated those services throughout 2009. The winner of this category is the airline which carried the largest number of passengers during 2009.
Baboo launched two routes, Athens-Geneva and Athens-Nice on 25th October 2008. Soon after the opening, a code-share agreement was signed with Olympic and the routes have been operated in joint venture by the two airlines since. Baboo offers also short connections beyond Geneva to Bordeaux and Toulouse.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
