Romance and Love

Budapest possesses a rich and fascinating history as well as a vibrant cultural heritage. Recognizing the unique value of its traditions it has managed to maintain its magic and charm, and is rightly known as the Queen of the Danube.

Budapest is often referred to as the ‘Paris of the East’ and can easily compete as one of the world’s most romantic cities. With its picturesque backdrop, the majestic Danube at its centre separating the ‘Buda’ and ‘Pest’ sides of the city, cosy cafes and trendy bars, plus the quaint cobbled streets of the old Castle district.

CASTLE HILL

The name Buda Castle covers more than a castle or the Royal Palace in the capital city; it extends to the historical quarter full of sites. On bright spring days you can invite your beloved for a romantic walk in the Castle. The most exiting way of getting to the Castle is by taking the Funicular, a little cable car up the Castle Hill. The Castle District is one of the most wonderful pedestrian sections in Budapest. A medieval little town with atmospheric streets, picturesque houses, gas lamps and beautiful monuments. The winding streets and narrow houses date back to the Middle Ages, occasionally decorated with valuable Gothic window and door frames.

MARGARET ISLAND

Budapest’s favourite park is without a doubt the Margaret Island, a pedestrianized recreational island in the middle of the Danube river. When you are at the island it is just impossible to believe that Margaret Island is situated in the centre of the city. It is a welcoming green oasis in the heart of Budapest and one of the most romantic place for couples with its musical fountain and the centuries-old trees. A walk around Margaret Island is a pleasure at any time of the year. There are no cars are allowed, but bicycles can be hired.

FISHERMAN'S BATION

The Fisherman's Bastion is one of the most famous sights and the most romantic places of Budapest. Its hidden recesses and stone benches became one of the most favorite places for loving couples. The bastion itself with all its marvelous towers and fabulous staircases resembles a wedding cake. From its towers everyone can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view on the Danube, Margaret Island and the ancient part of the city.
