Events Frankfurt 2011
Monday 7, February 2011
Frankfurt am Main is a city of many highlights. There is of course the unique skyline, one of the city’s premier attractions.
There’s also plenty of business and finance, international trade shows and one of Europe’s busiest airports. What many outsiders do not know is that the Main metropolis also offers locals and visitors a wide range of spectacular special events.
Frankfurt loves to party, and there are plenty of occasions to do so throughout the year. The city’s calendar of events comprises over 100 street festivals, cultural celebrations, markets, folk fairs and other types of open-air events.
Culture enthusiasts will no doubt be happy to hear that 2011 will be full of cultural highlights of most every variety. Aside from its colourful theatre, playhouse and opera scene, which includes the renowned Oper Frankfurt and the time-honoured Alte Oper, Frankfurt also boasts a fantastic museum landscape. Several of its exhibition establishments are at present undergoing renovations. The Film Museum will be back to “business as usual” in early summer, offering visitors – amongst other things – a fully restructured permanent exhibition. Come autumn, Frankfurt will celebrate the reopening of the world-famous Städel Museum, then featuring the “New Städel”, the museum’s brand-new underground extension.
