Father's day at Warwick Castle
Sunday 13, June 2010
Warwick Castle is providing the perfect gift this Father’s Day, as the line up for the first ever Classic Car Show is announced.
Petrol heads will have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the array of vehicles on display, including the Fastest Electric Land Speed Car – the Blue Bird 3 and the World’s Fastest Steam Car which will be accompanied by its owner Don Wales. He likely caught the speed seeking bug from his late Grandfather Sir Malcolm Campbell, who gained numerous world speed records on land and on water in the 1920’s and 30’s. Another guaranteed star of the show will be the original Bat Mobile. The futuristic concept car called the Lincoln Futura was built by the Ford Motor Company and was used in the 1960’s TV series.
Bringing a dose of Hollywood glitz to the proceedings will be the ‘groovy’ Jaguar XK8 convertible from the Austin Powers films and James Bonds’ sleek Jaguar XKR, from 2002 blockbuster Die Another Day. Accompanying these world famous stars will be over 150 classic cars, displayed on the Castle’s Pageant Field.
Bringing the beats on the day will be acclaimed jazz band King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, accompanied by 20 50’s style dancers who will be on hand to provide some show-stopping entertainment.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
