HS2 To Reroute To Heathrow Airport?

If the current aviation inquiry rules that Heathrow airport should be developed, there has also been a recommendation by the new Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, that the new high-speed train line which has been considered, should be rerouted towards Heathrow.

Though there has been heavy opposition to both the airport expansion and the high-speed train (HS2), the route linking the London and the North has large factions in the government staunchly fighting the corner to ensure they both go ahead. With the report not due for release until 2015, and construction on the railway not due to commence until 2018, those who regularly depart or arrive into Heathrow can breathe a sigh of relief – for now.
