The new route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays through the summer, and move to twice a week, Thursdays and Sundays, in the winter. The new service is in addition to the existing direct and daily schedule that already operates between Budapest and Manchester.
The Edinburgh – Budapest schedules are:

The scheduling benefits both business and leisure travellers and with a year round offering presents increased flexibility for passengers. We know that Budapest is a very popular city break destination from the UK, and as one of the most visited cities in Europe we are confident this route will do well.”
Jet2.com’s Managing Director Ian Doubtfire, MD of Jet2.com was on the inaugural flight and commented: “We are delighted to have begun this exciting new route directly linking Budapest and the city of Edinburgh. The route offers travellers from the Budapest area the chance to visit the beautiful country of Scotland with a fast and efficient, award-winning service.” The aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute on arrival, and the crew were presented with a cake to commemorate the new service.
Fares on the route start from only 44,99€ one way including taxes, and whilst the aircraft, a Boeing 737-300 offers an all economy cabin with up to 148 seats, there is the option to buy extra leg room on eight of the seats, and to select allocated seat numbers on ticket purchase. The airline also offers a generous luggage allowance of 22kg. Fare details can be found at www.jet2.com
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
