Christmas market
With nearly 5.000.000 Christmas lights you can’t expect anything less than a brilliant Christmas! Sweden’s biggest and most atmospheric Christmas market.
Liseberg in central Gothenburg is Northern Europe´s largest and most beautiful amusement park, and one of Sweden´s most popular attractions of any kind. After closing briefly in October, Liseberg opens again in mid November. Then it’s time for Christmas at Liseberg, which in recent years has evolved into a major event of international magnitude. With full of visitors eager to experience the genuine Scandinavian Christmas atmosphere the entire park is lit up with millions of lights; it virtually becomes one huge Christmas tree.
There is a large Christmas market, traditional handicrafts, Christmas music, skiing and ice skating, restaurants serving classic Swedish Christmas smorgasbords, an ice bar and numerous other events and attractions.
CHRISTMAS MARKET
The design and craft market offers an enviable selection of gifts from famous names such as Glaskraft, Jenny Linde and Eva of Sweden. Visitors can enjoy beautiful art and crafts made from such materials as wood, wrought iron, glass, textiles and ceramics in a warm and cosy atmosphere. There will be a change of exhibitors throughout the Christmas period, bringing a vibrant and dynamic market.
CHRISTMAS FOOD
Good food is an important part of a great day out. Liseberg has a complete range of eating places, from elegant restaurants with exclusive 3-course menus and the traditional Swedish Christmas buffet to kiosks selling popcorn and candyfloss.
ICEBAR
Liseberg Ice Gallery and Bar is made entirely out of beautiful shimmering blue ice. All of the interior furnishings, including the drinking glasses, are made of ice. A fascinating experience that won't melt away quickly!
And Gothenburg´s Christmas celebrations extend from Liseberg to the Götaplatsen square and the Avenyn boulevard in a big collaboration project between the City, shops and restaurateurs, making Christmas in Gothenburg a highly attractive event for visitors from near and afar.
