London Gatwick airport reopened - weather and travel update - 14.55

Gatwick's runway has now reopened. The airport teams have safely cleared 10cm of snow from the runway itself, as well as taxiways and stands, and they were able to open the runway at 14:45, 15 minutes ahead of schedule.
Virgin to Antigue and San Juan and Virgin to Barbados will be the first flights departing shortly.
Delays and cancellations will be inevitable for the rest of the day. Passengers should check with their airline before setting out for the airport.
easyJet and British Airways have cancelled all flights for the rest of the day.

All shorthaul flights from/to Gatwick due to depart on Saturday 18 December will be cancelled. All longhaul flights due to depart before 1700 UK time are now cancelled. If your flight has been cancelled please do not come to the airport unless you have a confirmed booking on a new flight
