More than 15 million people are planning to go on holiday in June for the Queen’s Jubilee

It’s been a case of first come first served in the race to beat colleagues to book the ‘golden three days’ which equate to nine days off work. Nearly two in five (38 percent) found it a struggle to book time off while one in five (21percent) didn’t manage to book their holiday because colleagues had beaten them to it.
London Stansted Airport is expecting to see a boost in the number of travellers this June, following research which found that more than 15 million* (25%) Brits intend to go away to make the most of the extra bank holidays.
As with the Royal Wedding last year, where more than 10 million** people aimed to create an extended break by using the extra bank holidays, the research found that of those who have already booked the time off, more than 3 million*** are planning to go abroad.

Nick Barton, Managing Director of London Stansted Airport said: “If you’re looking to take advantage of the extra bank holidays this June, then we’ve got a number of new routes to some really exciting destinations. We have the biggest choice of European destinations and with millions of people looking to take flight, it’s a great opportunity to take advantage and explore somewhere new.”
There is still time to book a break away so if you are looking for a little destination inspiration, London Stansted Airport has created a list of the top five destinations for the double bank holiday this June:
Nick Barton also said: “Stansted has been named the most punctual airport in Europe, and we’ll do our best to get you off the ground on time with the minimum of fuss. So even if you haven’t booked time off, why not use the long weekend for a short escape where your holiday will begin the moment you step inside the terminal.”
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
