Ryanair welcomes Swedish Court decision to reject passenger compensation claim
Ryanair has welcomed the decision of the Svea Court of Appeal in Stockholm which declared that passengers are not entitled to compensation in cases where extraordinary circumstances apply, as the court overturned the decision of the District Court of Nykoping which awarded two passengers compensation (even though it accepted extraordinary circumstances were present) in breach of the provisions of EU261.

Swiss to serve Basel culinary delights aloft
For the latest phase in its “SWISS Taste of Switzerland” inflight culinary concept, SWISS will be offering First and Business Class guests delicacies of the Basel region from the beginning of June onwards. Tanja Grandits, chef de cuisine at the Restaurant Stucki, will be providing the carrier’s premium customers with her varied and aromatic cuisine for the next three months.

Barcelona El Prat announced as Ryanair's 42nd base
Ryanair has announced it would open its 42nd base at Barcelona El Prat in September 2010 with 5 based aircraft and 20 low fare routes, which will help reverse declining traffic numbers at El Prat airport which fell by 3m passengers in 2009.

Ryanair announced that from midnight (24:00hrs) Mon 24th May it will release 1m summer seats from €5 for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in June.

KLM launches a la carte catering pilot
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will launch a pilot project offering à la carte catering on board. Passengers travelling in Economy Class will be able to choose from four dishes on flights from Amsterdam to Bangkok and Taipei, Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore and Denpasar. Orders can be placed when checking in online. The pilot will run until the end of August this year.

You can buy Lounge Access with Austrian Airlines
From 1 June 2010 onwards, passengers travelling with Austrian Airlines will have the option to pay for Lounge access before their departure in Vienna – on an Economy Class ticket.
