Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol - connecting a vast European market of 500 million people to the rest of the world
Anniversary of the historic declaration by Robert Schuman, the founding document of European integration, May 9th is Europe Day, celebrated since 1985 in all Member States of the European Union. The construction of a single European market which enabled, among others, Air France and KLM to merge in 2004 to become a leading global airline. The two airlines have since built a dual global network structured around two hubs - Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol.

Norwegian strongly affected by closed European airspace in April
Norwegian’s passenger figures were strongly affected by the unexpected closing of European airspace in April due to volcanic ash. Close to 2,000 flights were cancelled. A total of 800,000 passengers flew with Norwegian. The company had a production growth of 13 percent compared to April last year.

New service between Basel and Venice 
Swiss International Air Lines will be adding a new seasonal Basel-Venice service to its schedules on 1 July. The new four-times-weekly flights will provide convenient non-stop service between the city (and the surrounding Veneto region in Northern Italy, which is very popular with vacationers) and EuroAirport Basel. Venice brings to ten the destinations served by SWISS from Basel with its own equipment.
