Titan Airways provides aircraft to assist BA passengers
Titan Airways, the London Stansted-based VIP charter specialist, has been contracted to operate two aircraft on behalf of BA for the duration of the planned strike by BA cabin crew from 20-22 March, inclusive. The aircraft, a Boeing 757 and a Boeing 767, will be based at London Heathrow, operating routes to and from Dusseldorf, Nice, Rome and Lyon. BA has a wet-lease arrangement with Titan, meaning that the aircraft will be provided with full cockpit and cabin crew.

UK passengers can avoid BA’s strike by flying Ryanair
Ryanair, Britain’s favourite airline, today (18th Mar) called on passengers to avoid BA’s strike on this weekend by snapping up one of Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares on over 400 routes to/from the UK. BA have already cancelled many flights as a result of strike action from 19th to 21st March.

SAS ordered to pay Norwegian close to NOK 175 million for industrial espionage
We are very pleased that the Court of Appeal has ordered SAS to pay Norwegian close to NOK 175 million (approx 22 million EUR) in damages for the industrial espionage that we were exposed to, said CEO of Norwegian, Bjørn Kjos. Borgarting Court of Appeal has ordered SAS to pay damages of NOK 160 million, in addition to legal costs for the District Court and the Court of Appeal. In total, the amount adds up to just under NOK 175 million.

Condor aircraft receive emission-saving winglets
Condor is the first German airline to equip its long-haul aircraft with state-of-the-art wing extensions. The so-called winglets ensure that the cruising altitude is reached more quickly, and do not require as much thrust during flight and landing, making them extremely ecological as a result.

The 3rd Annual ACI Europe SMAG (Small and Medium Sized Airports Action Group) Conference takes place under the patronage of the Spanish Presidency of the EU, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Edinburgh reconnects with Barcelona as new Spanair route is launched
Edinburgh Airport has reconnected with Barcelona with a new five weekly service commencing from May 21st.
Barcelona was one of the destinations lost with the demise of Flyglobespan in late 2009 and Spanair's new service will not only replace the service, but offer far more frequency.

Greater efficiency in the dutch-german airspace
A new airspace structure in the area of the dutch-german border came into force on March 11, 2010. The project called AMRUFA will allow a growth in air traffic capacity of about fifteen percent in the complex and heavily frequented air space between Frankfurt and Amsterdam says Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS).

New Bmi service between London Heathrow and Berlin on sale
bmi, British Midland International, is launching its new route between London Heathrow and Berlin from 28 March 2010, with fares available to book from today (16 March 2010). The route will be operated using an Airbus A319 aircraft with four daily flights serving Germany’s cultural and vibrant capital city, Berlin.
