Wednesday 10, November 2010
At the World Travel Awards event, the oneworld alliance, of which Finnair is a member, has been selected as the World's Best Airline Alliance by 180,000 travel industry professionals.
"oneworld gives Finnair the best possible quality signature worldwide. In recent years, oneworld has received this award in an unbroken series, which indicates just how much investing in quality means to the alliance. We for our part have added to the credibility of the alliance in terms of quality through our four-star Skytrax classification," says Paavo Virkkunen, Finnair's Vice President responsible for oneworld relations.
Finnair is in good company in the alliance, which consists of the world's best known airlines. Together with its alliance partners, Finnair has purposefully developed oneworld's services and quality criteria. Finnair is the only Northern European airline to be rated a four-star airline in the international Skytrax classification.
"Frequent-flying business passengers who value quality show by their selections just how important high service quality is in their everyday travel experience," continues Virkkunen.
oneworld was also selected as the world's best alliance last spring by Skytrax, which conducts customer surveys, and the alliance has won the Business Traveller magazine's best alliance award three times.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
