Ryanair to develop an online travel community: report
Monday 29, March 2010
Budget airline Ryanair is reportedly preparing for its foray into the social media world. According to a report filed by Marketing Week, the airline is developing an online travel community.
However, Ryanair said it wouldn’t engage with consumers on third-party social sites like Facebook and Twitter. All activity will be hosted on ryanair.com. Plans include a flight comparison engine and a tie-up with travel specialist Frommer’s.
Aileen O’Mahony, Ryanair’s online manager, said, “We’re still mainly a booking site but this will give passengers more useful information. We’re flying to more places so this a way to entice local businesses to come onto the site and grow online with us.”
As the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games draw to a close, London 2012 organisers have been taking advantage of the final opportunity to experience and learn from an Olympic Games, before London becomes the next Olympic Host City.
As the 21st Winter Olympic Games wind down in Vancouver, my thoughts naturally turn to the 22nd Winter Olympic Games scheduled for February 7 through 23, 2014, in Sochi, Russia. 2014 will mark the first time that Russia will host the Winter Games – Moscow hosted the Summer Games in 1980.
Even in these difficult economic times, companies are still seeing value in business aviation and are looking to increase business jet travel in 2010.
