Shanghai Expo Brought a Tourism Peak to Zhouzhuang in May

As Shanghai Expo is gradually welcoming its visiting peak, Zhouzhuang, an ancient town in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is also becoming crowded, with its reception number hitting the history.
According to the statistics, Zhouzhuang has received over 800,000 tourists since May 1, and the average number of a single day is 25,000, increasing by 93% than before.
Shanghai Expo has brought a large number of tourists to Jiangsu tourism, especially bringing new developing opportunities to the tourism economy of scenic spots near Shanghai. Now, “seeing Expo, and visiting Zhouzhuang” has been one of the selected tourist routes of many travel agencies. Zhouzhuang received 131,000 tourists just in May Day Holiday, with an increase of 16% than before.
It is learned from the scenic spot that visitors are more interested and fond of traveling in water alleys, boating around the town, shopping at Zhang Hall and Shen Hall, watching folk shows in the street, enjoying the performance of Four Seasons in Zhouzhuang, etc. Besides, the number of foreign travelers is also increased.
During the May Day Holiday, hotels in Zhouzhuang were fully occupied. The average occupancy rate reached to 90%, and even the rate of some famous residence inns was 100%. The online bookings of scenic spot tickets and hotels were raised at the same time.
It is estimated that as the summer vacation is close, the expo effect will be more obvious, and Zhouzhuang will certainly welcome its new touring peak.
