Sol Melia presents the new Solmelia.com website at FITUR
Saturday 23, January 2010
The most important hotel company in Spain, Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts, has presented the new version of its website solmelia.com at FITUR, including a completely new look and feel which makes it easier for users to navigate the site and also new functionality to improve the quality of the service it provides.
Amongst the latest features is an attractive, modern and functional design, as well as a new way of presenting hotel rooms and prices which highlights the availability of promotions and discounts. The website allows users to order their hotel search based on price and location, as well as including upgrades to hotel photographs and room descriptions. Another of the new features is the introduction of a “shopping basket” which allows users to add complementary services to their booking.
Special attention has also been paid to social networks, incorporating direct links to the Sol Meliá sites on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr, with the objective of promoting the creation of a Sol Meliá community.
Pioneering mobile phone booking service
Sol Meliá has also become the first Spanish company to launch a mobile phone booking tool which allows users to search and book company hotels using their mobile phone. The system allows users to locate the hotel on “Google Maps”, see photos and also access the company loyalty programme. The system provides an additional sales channel for Sol Meliá and has been introduced in response to the needs of business travellers with the assistance of the Irish company, Mobile Travel Technologies.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
The hotel price comparison site www.trivago.co.uk has put together a list of the fifteen most spectacular hotel rooftop terraces in the world.
