Wednesday 15, December 2010
The Airbus A340-300 aircraft with registration HB-JMA was today named “Frauenfeld” at a ceremony involving representatives from SWISS and the capitol of Canton Thurgau. The aircraft’s first destination after the naming ceremony was New York.
SWISS Chief Financial Officer Marcel Klaus and Frauenfeld mayor Carlo Parolari today named A340 HB-JMA “Frauenfeld” in a ceremony at Zurich Airport attended by numerous guests from Canton Thurgau. This aircraft was recently fitted with the new Business Class. An obviously delighted Carlo Parolari commented: “It is a great honour for us to have the name Frauenfeld presented to the world on a SWISS aircraft. Frauenfeld has been well under way for some time, but now the city can really take off. On behalf of the city council I wish to thank SWISS for this honour.”
Marcel Klaus, Chief Financial Officer von SWISS, shared Carlo Parolari’s enthusiasm, adding: “Frauenfeld is a key transport hub in eastern Switzerland with good links to Zurich Airport.” This advantageous transport connectivity benefits not only business based in Frauenfeld but also residents of the city and region, Klaus noted. “We would be delighted if our newly named A340 was a further incentive for the people of Frauenfeld to travel with us.”
The three-class configuration of the A340-300 accommodates 219 passengers. SWISS currently operates 15 such long-haul aircraft on routes between Switzerland and North and South America, Asia and Africa. By mid-2011 all A340s in the SWISS fleet will be equipped with the new SWISS Business product.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
