Switzerland: open-house day to promote the world of hospitality
Tuesday 21, September 2010
“Are you familiar with the hotel world?” A question that sums up the invitation to the general public – whether customers or merely visitors – to discover 41 Accor hotels in Switzerland on Sunday, October 10th.
The country’s MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Adagio, ibis and Etap Hotel brands will open their doors to allow the public a behind-the-scenes look at Accor hotels in Switzerland, as well as a chance to find out more about the hospitality profession, from kitchen and restaurant service to reception, VIP welcome techniques, administration and floor management.
For Walter Zuëck, Marketing and Sales Director Switzerland, “This awareness-raising operation will allow us to make our business better known to the public and address young people seeking professional orientation”.
Visitors will have an opportunity to accompany employees in real work situations and take part in workshops to learn about the various hotel functions.
A large-scale operation, as each of the 41 hotels has prepared a specific programme to encourage the public to find out more about our many-faceted profession.
Making the open-house a real event
A dedicated website has been designed for the occasion. In addition to presenting the detailed programme planned at each hotel, it offers an introduction to the Group and its hospitality trades.
To crown the event, a contest will be organised on October 10th at all participating hotels with prizes ranging from a stay for two people in Paris to 10 one-night stays in a double room with breakfast at an Accor hotel in Switzerland and 10 dinners for two.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
The hotel price comparison site www.trivago.co.uk has put together a list of the fifteen most spectacular hotel rooftop terraces in the world.
