The King is coming to Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel
Tuesday 23, November 2010
From the 6th – 8th January 2011, Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel will host The European Elvis Championships and Convention.
The four star luxury hotel based at the National Exhibition Centre, will be the venue for the prestigious Elvis Championships with more than 80 tribute acts battling it out to be crowned the European Champion 2011.
The hotel itself will be transformed into a mini Las Vegas with live bands, showcases, merchandise, discos, a gospel contest and a novice contest.
Elvis Presley’s performances at Hilton Las Vegas left an indelible mark on the city as it is today. In 1969, Presley performed 58 consecutive sold out shows, breaking all Vegas attendance records. He then broke his own attendance record in February 1970, and again in August 1970 and August 1972.
Patrick Stapleton, general manager of the hotel, commented, “We are very excited to welcome some of the best Elvis impersonators to the hotel for this event. Elvis Presley is synonymous with Hilton and to be able to recreate a little bit of that legend here in Birmingham, one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in Europe, is a great privilege.”
The contest has been officially licensed by Elvis Enterprises, Inc.

More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
