The Sweet Sounds of Europe’s Cultural Capitals
Tuesday 16, March 2010
Week eight of Four Seasons Cultural Capitals programme sees nine European properties hit the high notes with a medley of events that span the entire musical range.
From solo Japanese violinist, Tamaki Kawakubo, at Florence’s Teatro Del Maggio Musicale (March 19 and 21) to over 75 guest performers at Dublin’s National Concert Hall (ongoing), Four Seasons can help guests find their perfect music match – and recommend the best haunts to keep toes tapping long into the night.
Looking for something contemporary? Head to Lisbon’s massive "Rock in Rio" event (May 21, 22, 27, 29 and 30): an international music celebration with an underlying environmental message. This year, Shakira, John Mayer, Elton John, Muse, Snow Patrol and Motorhead are just some of the eclectic artists taking to Lisbon’s Palco do Mundo main stage, with countless more appearing on secondary stages throughout the expansive "Rock City" enclosure. And with private transfers and VIP tickets, Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon are on hand to transport guests to the heart of the action.
For a more sedentary musical experience, head to Obecní Dům (Municipal House), the jewel in Prague’s art nouveau crown and home to the vast, ornate Smetana concert hall. Dine in one of three beautiful restaurants, sip a fine port in the Wine Bar or attend a classical concert as part of the Prague Spring Festival programme (May 12 - June 4). For a closer look, book a private tour through the concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Prague and savour the building in all its ceremonial and architectural glory – minus the tour crowds.
The classics take on a different meaning in London this April as "The Magic of the Beatles" live concert show recreates the legendary performances of the Fab Four in celebration of the group’s 50th anniversary. Relive all the psychedelia and hysteria with brilliant vocals, superb choreography, vibrant costumes and incredible musicianship in this one off extravaganza (April 15) at the O2 Arena, just 15 minutes from Four Seasons Hotel Canary Wharf.
London 2012 makes most of learning opportunities in Vancouver 2010
As the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games draw to a close, London 2012 organisers have been taking advantage of the final opportunity to experience and learn from an Olympic Games, before London becomes the next Olympic Host City.
Next Winter Olympic Games: Sochi, Russia
As the 21st Winter Olympic Games wind down in Vancouver, my thoughts naturally turn to the 22nd Winter Olympic Games scheduled for February 7 through 23, 2014, in Sochi, Russia. 2014 will mark the first time that Russia will host the Winter Games – Moscow hosted the Summer Games in 1980.
