The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express prepares to make history as it makes its debut rail voyage into Scandinavia

The legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (VSOE) is on the cusp of making history, as it prepares to make its debut voyage into the heart of Scandinavia on an elegant, scenic and unique two-night journey from Venice to Stockholm, via an overnight stop i

On Monday 8 April 2013, the VSOE will depart from Venice for the overnight journey through Italy, Austria and Germany into Denmark. Remaining in Copenhagen for one night to give guests time to explore the fascinating city and its historic landmarks, the train continues its journey the next day as it makes its first foray onto Swedish tracks.  Heading north for the final part of the journey which will have seen it snake its way through five countries and over 2541 km’s, the train will arrive into Stockholm on Thursday 11 April.

The train will make its return journey, departing from Stockholm on Friday 12 April for Venice, again via an overnight stop in Copenhagen.

The VSOE continues to evoke the style of the Golden Age of Travel with its beautifully restored vintage 1920's and 1930's Art Deco carriages offering an authentic rail travel experience. Fine dining with a new Scandinavian inspired menu, exceptional service and three brand new cocktails created to celebrate these new routes, will set the scene for a decadent journey of a lifetime.

The cocktails, created by the Head Barman play homage to the many delicate, yet tasty berries loved by the Scandinavians. The ‘Lovisa’, a vodka based creation is infused with Artic Brambles and cinnamon and includes Lakka which is a liqueur made from Cloudberries. The vodka based ‘Baltic Sea Breeze’ is a refreshing long-drink flavoured with Lingonberries and Cloudberries and the Champagne based ‘Kir Nobel’ is centred around Cherries and Lingonberries.

Crossing borders and continents and keeping with the tradition of offering intriguing, long distance itineraries with a real sense of adventure, this train continues to offer a truly unique travel experience.
