The world’s most expensive first date
Thursday 17, February 2011
This Valentine’s Day, a leading luxury hotel in the UK launched the most expensive first date package ever created at a whopping £45,000 per couple.
von Essen’s Amberley Castle in West Sussex- purported to be a romantic hotspot for celebrities such as the Beckham’s, Ricky Gervais and the wedding venue for TV Star Holly Willoughby- has created the package to guarantee would-be couples a ‘faux pas’ free evening with a number of elaborate solutions to common first date mistake.
Timing is Key: The solution – a glamorous helicopter or private jet will pick you up from wherever you are in UK and land you in the hotels grounds, cutting out the traffic and ensuring that you don’t make that initial first date mistake of being late.
Dress to Impress: The solution – a team of stylists, hairdressers, beauty therapists and even dentists (to prevent bad breath) will be on hand to ensure you wow from the outset.
Avoid Bad Manners: The solution – a 10-course intricate menu, created by award-winning head chef James Dugan, contains more manageable portions, specifically designed to prevent messy eating.
Don’t Check Out Other People: The solution – a 19 bedroom castle, hired out exclusively for you, with no potential for prying eyes!
Obvious Over Eagerness – For those that suffer from ‘over eagerness’ on the first date, the hotel is offering two of its luxurious suites for the couple to stay in to ensure that there are no presumptions!
The Right First Date Venue - A luxury medieval castle can’t help but impress!
A spokesman for von Essen hotels said “Although it seems extremely expensive, a first impression is so critical. If this package helps ensure that a couple start off on the right track to achieve a lasting relationship then it could be worth every penny.”
Oliver Smith, General Manager at Amberley Castle, commented “Amberley Castle is one of the most romantic hotels in the world so we see lots of first dates. After witnessing one recently go not quite so well we decided to step in and create this package to help out hapless romantics.”
For those that really want to impress at the end of an evening and still have cash to spare then the hotels rose champagne bubble bath at an extra £60,000 per couple adds a real wow factor.

More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
