Thelma and Louise launches travel guide reward programme
Monday 18, October 2010
Women’s online travel community, Thelma & Louise has launched a rewards scheme for members who publish travel guides on the website.
The Travel BUG Rewards have been developed to give something back to the women for sharing their travel experiences, recommendations and tips with the Thelma & Louise community.
Every month, starting from October, Thelma & Louise will award an exciting prize to the author of the travel guide that receives the most “thumbs-up” in that month, as voted for by the Thelma & Louise community. The first winner will be announced on 31st October and rewarded with a £500 cash prize. Further monthly prizes will range from holidays and vouchers to travel products and cash.
The recently re-vamped, women’s travel website introduced a member-written travel guides feature to complement the bespoke DK Guides, which are provided by respected publisher of the Eyewitness Travel series, Dorling Kindersley.
“Members have been posting their own, high quality travel guides gradually since the re-launch of the site in July,” said Thelma & Louise co-founder Christine Davies.
“Everyone enjoys talking about subjects they have a passion for and our members are having a lot of fun sharing their travel stories, tips and experiences. The advantage of encouraging members to upload travel guides of their own, is that they naturally provide a woman’s perspective, making them highly relevant to the members.
“Women are able to rate travel guides they have found useful or inspirational and we are delighted to be in a position now to give something back to our community for sharing their experiences, recommendations and tips.”
In addition to the launch of the Travel Bug Rewards, Thelma & Louise is incentivising members to post their travel experiences and tips by entering everyone who writes and uploads a guide into a prize draw to win one of 35 VIP tickets to the Luxury Travel Fair in November.
One of the top luxury travel events of the year, The Luxury Travel Fair gathers together the finest holiday experiences from around the world at the prestigious National Hall in London’s Olympia, 4 – 7 November 2010.
The first 10 members to publish a travel guide and join the Luxury Travel Fair event on the Thelma & Louise site before 1 November will receive a Gold VIP invitation for two people to the Luxury Travel Fair AND The Spirit of Christmas Fair on any one day between 4 and 7 November. The VIP treatment includes a complimentary glass of Champagne and valet parking.
The next 25 members to add a travel guide will receive a Silver VIP invitation, again for two people and valid on any day of the show.

More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
The hotel price comparison site www.trivago.co.uk has put together a list of the fifteen most spectacular hotel rooftop terraces in the world.
