Turismo Valencia’s new 3-dimensional video, ‘Valencia en 3D’, has been announced as the winner of a prestigious Golden City Gate Award, in the category of ‘Technological Innovation’, at the ITB Berlin travel trade show.
The creative 3D video, produced by Turismo Valencia to showcase the city ‘in another dimension’, impressed the international judging panel of more than 30 high profile figures in the tourism industry, and triumphed over strong competition featuring entries from 63 different countries, to claim the award.
The innovative destination film uses the latest video technology to bring the city of Valencia to life, encouraging viewers to ‘see Valencia through different eyes’ as it takes them on a 3-dimensional tour through the city. In a little more than three minutes viewers are taken on a journey of discovery around Valencia to experience the beautiful green spaces such as the Turia Gardens, the spectacular modern architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences, the charm of the historic city centre and the unique way of life that Valencians enjoy.
The Managing Director of Turismo Valencia, José Salinas, explained that the pioneering 3D video is being used as a marketing tool to promote the city throughout 2011. He said, “This prestigious award recognises the innovation and creativity behind Turismo Valencia’s 3D video campaign, which will allow visitors to get a unique insight into the city, whilst raising Valencia’s profile on the international stage. We are confident this success will increase the constant growth in tourism that Valencia has recently enjoyed, as highlighted by provisional figures for overnight stays in January and February 2011, which already show an increase of between 20% and 30%, compared with the same time last year.”
The internationally renowned Golden City Gate Awards are presented annually at ITB, one of the world’s biggest international travel trade shows, and recognise the best tourist films from around the world in a number of categories. Turismo Valencia is no stranger to success at these awards, with their advert ‘Valencia, incredible but true’ winning the ‘Best Tourist Advertisement’ award in 2009.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
