Utell Hotels & Resorts Enhances Utell Mobile
Friday 25, June 2010
Utell Hotels & Resorts has again teamed with Dublin’s Mobile Travel Technologies Limited (MTT) to expand Utell Mobile, located at mobile.utell.com , increasing the mobile site’s offering from 150 to 2,000 hotels.
The mobile site has also been enhanced to improve the user interface for several smartphones, including iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, while still remaining accessible for traditional Web-enabled mobile phones.
The enhancements come on the heels of Deloitte’s May 2010 survey, which showed ten percent of respondents had used a hotel application on a Web-enabled smartphone to book a room, access a loyalty program account, view/modify/cancel a reservation, pay a bill, check-in or check-out. Utell Mobile’s enhancements take into consideration this growth in mobile travel booking by allowing users to generalize searches and view descriptive content more easily, according to Ric Leutwyler, president of Utell Hotels & Resorts.
“Utell was one of the first hotel companies to offer a mobile booking application as early as 2007 by leveraging MTT’s robust technology,” said Leutwyler. “With proven joint experience in the space, we’re responding again to growing market demand for mobile booking from increasingly savvy leisure travelers. Utell member hotels tap us to sell their hotels worldwide, and mobile is now an integral component of that equation, in both the shopping and buying stages.”
Utell Mobile offers consistent branding with Utell.com, and allows users to search by city, country and state, using Pegasus technology. Users can also utilize the “find a hotel” flow when seeking a specific hotel and book via their mobile device. Utell Mobile utilizes MTT’s mobile travel technology platform m2bed, ensuring a flawless user experience when using a mobile device.
“Our long history with Utell and Pegasus has helped drive the acceptance of mobile booking we’re seeing today,” said Gerry Samuels, founder and executive director of Mobile Travel Technologies. “This enhancement to Utell Mobile allows us to introduce mobile booking as a tool to thousands of hotels that may not otherwise have the resources to enter, much less compete, in the mobile space, which has become a well established distribution channel.”
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
