Visit London gears up for World Travel Market 2010
Tuesday 9, November 2010
Visit London, the official visitor organisation for the capital, will once again be exhibiting at World Travel Market, this year being joined by some of the city’s top tourism businesses including Pestana Chelsea Bridge, Passage of Terror and University College London.
The focus on the London stand will be Only in London, the highly successful ongoing campaign for the city, which highlights all of the capital’s truly unique attractions and experiences. The Only in London campaign has proved a huge success, generating in excess of £100million in economic benefit to the city since its launch, and visitors to the London stand in 2010 can discover a range of new and exciting Only In London events and experiences available now for visitors to enjoy.
With less than 2 years to go to 2012, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are set to be a hot topic of discussion, and the Visit London team will be on hand to discuss developments taking place in preparation, covering the full spectrum of services impacting the tourist experience.
Sally Chatterjee, CEO Visit London said,
“Visit London looks forward to continuing its long-running attendance at World Travel Market in 2010. As a city, London is incomparably diverse and constantly evolving - visitors to our stand can always discover something new year on year. We look forward to joining with our partners once again to showcase the very best of the city’s world-class attractions, experiences and visitor services as well as the exciting developments taking place in London throughout 2011 and beyond.’
World Travel Market will be the launch-pad for the release of Visit London’s annual ‘What’s New’ press briefing, which covers all of the latest news, events and openings set to take place in 2011. Two brand new Visit London official annual guides will also be launched at the event; the 2011 Travel Trade Guide, an essential tool for the trade when planning their London itineraries, and the 2011 City Guide, titled ‘Only in London’, which draws a spotlight on the unique experiences to be found in different areas around the capital. Both guides will be available on the stand and downloadable from visitlondon.com
At WTM 2010, Visit London will be again be working with The Leisure Pass Group to raise money for the event’s official charity, Just a Drop. Aiming to repeat the success of the extremely popular 2009 promotion, this year 500 London Passes will be sold for the discounted price of £15 to visitors to the stand, and £10 to meridian club members, with all proceeds going to the charity.
Visitors to the stand will also have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a fabulous theatre break to London, staying in the exclusive Pestana Chelsea Bridge hotel.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
