With Lufthansa non-stop from Dusseldorf to Lisbon and Edinburgh
Tuesday 16, March 2010
Non-stop flights to Lisbon are in the summer flight schedules from Dusseldorf. Lufthansa is commencing daily services ex Dusseldorf to the Portuguese capital from 12 April. The flight takes around three hours.
Lufthansa is the only airline to offer a non-stop connection between the two cities. From Dusseldorf, Lufthansa is also expanding its European network with the addition of non-stop flights to Edinburgh. Lufthansa is laying on six flights weekly from the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Scottish capital, beginning on 26 April.
Edinburgh is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities and a huge tourist attraction. The ‘Edinburgh Festival’ staged annually in summer is a magnet for lovers of art and culture. The City is also an important trading centre, linking Scotland with Scandinavia and the European mainland. Lufthansa CityLine, one of the Lufthansa regional partners, operates six flights weekly (Mondays-Fridays; Sundays) with a Regional Jet CRJ 700, departing Dusseldorf at 15.45 hours and arriving in Edinburgh at 16.25 hours. The return flight takes off from Edinburgh at 17.05 hours and lands in Dusseldorf at 19.45 hours.
Architectural splendour and a rich cultural heritage distinguish Lisbon uniquely from other European capitals, making it a fascinating city to visit. The choice for holidaymakers is wide and varied: From enjoying Portugal’s traditional fado music in the high-lying Bairro Alto quarter above the city centre, to visiting the Jeronimo Monastery in nearby Belem or commanding a panoramic view of the City and the Tejo from the Castello de San Jorge. Beachlovers will love the expansive promenades and Mediterranean-like flair at the resorts of Estoril and Cascais not far from Lisbon on the Atlantic coast. Eurowings is flying the new Lufthansa route from Dusseldorf to Lisbon with a Canadair Regional Jet CRJ 900. Daily flights leave Dusseldorf at 08.10 hours and arrive in Lisbon at 10.10 hours. The return flight at 10.45 hours lands in Dusseldorf at 14.45 hours.
Other newcomers in Lufthansa summer flight schedules from Dusseldorf are Athens, Gdansk, Dubrovnik and Naples. Connections from Nuremberg to Dusseldorf are to be increased to up to five daily services. Flights to Toronto are re-included in the summer timetable in order to accommodate demand on routes to North America. Lufthansa is flying to Miami up to mid-May (23 May) and, subsequently, again from 8 October. Flights to Newark (New York) and Chicago are available all year round. In the summer flight schedules ex Dusseldorf, Lufthansa is operating around 878 flights weekly to 60 destinations in Europe, Germany and North America.
The round trip from Dusseldorf to Lisbon as well as Edinburgh can be booked in Economy Class from 99 euros. The price includes all taxes, fees and the Lufthansa Ticket Service Charge when the flight is booked online at www.lufthansa.com. Miles on the route will be credited to Miles & More members. Information on the flights can be obtained and reservations made on the Lufthansa website, at the Lufthansa Call Center - phone 01805 805 805 (14 euro-cents per minute from German landlines), at Lufthansa travel agency partners or Lufthansa airport ticket counters.
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
With the recent wild fires, disrupting flights and increasing air pollution, environmental quality is a growing factor in attracting tourists.
