The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display.

The Rijksmuseum ( Dutch for National Museum) is a national museum of the Netherlands, located in Amsterdam on the Museumplein. The Sloten Windmill is a tower mill, with an octagon from 1847. It is the only mill in Amsterdam that is accessible to the public. Under the ancient beams there is also an audio-visual presentation about the life of Rembrandt. Sculptures, made from figures occurring on the paintings by Rembrandt, the miller’s son, accentuate the unique sphere.

This Ajax Arena tour takes approximately one hour and consists of a roundtrip through the stadium with an experienced guide. You can watch this process and get an explanation about this handcraft, typical for Amsterdam.

Thousands of visitors from all over the world visit Alkmaar for its cheese market, a particular spectacle which includes a market filled with cheese and hauling cheese carriers. The cheese market has taken place on the Waagplein in Alkmaar since 1593.

 

KAASMUSEUM

Opening hours: April-November, Monday-Saturday 10:00-16:00, Friday during the market season 9:00-16:00

At the 'Waagplein', in the middle of the centre of Alkmaar, you can find the historical Weighhouse, in 1390 built as a chapel for the Holy Ghost. In 1576 the building became the Weighhouse for cheese. Nowadays a part of the building is used for the weighing of cheese during the traditional cheese market on fridaymorning from april till september. Then you can see the cheese carriers in action.

The Binnenhof is a complex of buildings in The Hague. It has been the location of meetings of the Staten-Generaal, the Dutch parliament, since 1446, and has been the centre of Dutch politics for many centuries. The Visitors' centre at the Binnenhof offer tours through the Hall of Knights where the queen opens Parliament every third Tuesday of September, and/or through the First Chamber and/or the Second Chamber of Parliament.

Panorama Mesdag is a cylindrical painting, more than 14 meters high and 120 meters in circumference. The vista of the sea, the dunes and Scheveningen village was painted by one of the most famous painters of the Hague School, Hendrik Willem Mesdag. It is the oldest 19th century panorama in the world in its original site, and a unique cultural heritage.
