Connoisseurs invited to London World of Wine Evening

A World of Wine event has been organised to offer visitors to London the chance to get to know some fine tipples from Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Wine buffs spending time in London hotels may want head down to the west side of the capital for an evening that promises to help attendees discover the grapes of Spain, Portugal and Italy. The World of Wine event, which takes place at the Wine Cellars in Fulham on Tuesday March 9th, begins at 19:00 GMT and is split into two parts. There are only a limited number of places available, so people should visit the West London Wine School website as soon as they book their accommodation.

For the first hour, there will be wines from Tuscany, Veneto and Piedmont, with varieties such as Chianti, Barolo and Amarone splashing into glasses for everyone to learn about and taste.

The organisers described Italy as a country that "defines wine" and they hope to teach people a little about certain trends that have arrived in the UK.

In the second half of the night, guests will be treated to a "vibrant and colourful" selection of bottles, including varieties from Valencia, Ribera del Duero and Rias Baixas, as the experts try to show drinkers that there is more to Iberian wine than its famous Riojas.

Tickets are priced at £25 for the two-hour session.

For those connoisseurs that are unable to make it for this cultural evening, there is another one at the same venue that focuses on Rhone and Alsace grapes and New World wines two days later.
