Dough Pizza Kitchen and Jet2.com Present The Manetia
Saturday 10, April 2010
Visit Dough to try Manchesters newest fusion pizza to celebrate Jet2.com's new Manchester to Venice route! To celebrate Jet2.com’s brand new route to Venice, the friendly low fare airline and Manchester Airport have teamed up with Manchester Pizzeria, Dough, to re-create an Italian classic – a unique, limited edition pizza to commemorate the occasion ... the Manetian
Fusing the unique flavours of Manchester and Venice, the Manetian has been created by Dough’s head chef, Paul Rippon, using ingredients specific to each region.
Half of the pizza will fly the flag for the UK with toppings based on Manchester’s favourite way to start the day – the full English breakfast. Ingredients include locally sourced black pudding, streaky bacon and cheddar cheese. On the Italian-side, discover a taste of Venice with seasonal Italian vegetables including olives, and aubergines, Mozzarella and home-made Italian tomato sauce.
The Manetian will be on Dough’s menu for one month (8th April to 6th May 2010) with the chance for customers ordering the pizza to win flights to the fantastic Italian city through a weekly prize draw.
Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director at Jet2.com, said: “It is set to be a hugely exciting summer for us in Manchester with the launch of nine brand new routes from Manchester Airport. Venice is the first route to commence from our new summer schedule and we wanted to do something a bit different to commemorate its launch. What better way than to give people in Manchester a real taste of what the route has to offer with the re-creation of an Italian classic!
“The pizza’s flavours really are unique and we hope that Dough’s customers will be inspired to venture to Venice themselves to find out what the magnificent city has to offer. It has been a hugely exciting process working with Dough to create the recipe and we hope that the people of Manchester deem the Manetian a huge success. Who knows – it may soon have a regular place on the menu!”
Alyson Doocey, owner of Dough Pizza Kitchen, said: “We pride ourselves in creating innovative flavours for our pizza toppings so when Jet2.com approached us about creating this pizza we thought that it was a fantastic idea.
“We think that the pizza tastes great but the proof really will be in the pudding with how it goes down with our customers!”
Andrew Cornish, Managing Director for Manchester Airport, said: “We’ve not had a scheduled service to Venice since October 2007 from Manchester so I’m naturally delighted to see Jet2.com adding the route alongside several other destinations this Summer. It’s an important time for the airport and we’re already seeing signs of a strong Summer with many of our airlines adding new services and I know that our passengers are going to enjoy the sights and sounds of Venice.”
Flights from Manchester to Venice depart four times a week with fares starting from £29.99 one way including taxes. Visit www.jet2.com or more information.
