FIFA World Cup 2010 Fun Fest - Innesfree Park and Road Closures

 

Innesfree Park with its rolling grass and water features will provide a picturesque location for World Cup viewing, with the Sandton skyline as a backdrop.

 

A variety of activities will be available onsite to keep fans entertained both before and after the live screening of the games.

Innes Free Park has a seating capacity of 20 000. It will be open from 10am to late from 12 June. The distance from the stadium to Ellis Park Stadium is 15km; and it's 20km from OR Tambo International Airport.

 

Innes Free Fan Fest is at GPS Co‐ordinates: 26° 6'24.74"S, 28° 4'33.13"E. There will be no parking in the immediate vicinity, so please park at the Sandton Shopping Centre, where you will be able to follow the signs to the event.

 

Roads leading to and around specific City of Johannesburg 2010 FIFA World Cup Venues will be closed to traffic on particular days between 10th June to 11th July 2010 for safety and security reasons.

 

Three concentric rings of security, namely:

Inner Perimeter (IP);

Traffic Free Zone (TFZ);

Traffic Warning Zone (TWZ).

All vehicles entering the Traffic Free Zone/ Traffic Warning Zone need to have a valid authorization called Vehicle Access and/ or Parking Permit (VAPP);

 

The Fan Fests will operate from the 10th of June to the 11th of July 2010. Everyday from 11:00 to 24:00.

 

 On the 10th of June the Orlando Stadium concert will be televised at the Fan Fest.

 

Road closures will apply in the above-mentioned period everyday from 9:00 (am) to 01:00 (am).

 

This area encompasses the immediate park surrounds within the fenced off area. The two extreme left hand lanes of Grayston Drive between Katherine Street and the M1 (traveling towards the highway) will constitute the Traffic Free Zone and the Traffic Warning Zone.

 

 The lane next to the Park will be Traffic Free Zone (TFZ) and will constitute a drop off and pick up area whilst the other lane will be a Traffic Warning Zone

 

(TWZ) and it will be utilized as a pedestrian walkway. All vehicles and shuttles entering those two lanes will require a VAPP.

 

NB: ONLY BARLOWORLD BUSINESS PARK WILL REQUIRE VAPP'S, OTHER BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS DO NOT REQUIRE THIS

 

Motorists coming from Sandton will not be able to access the M1 North freeway from Katherine Street via Grayston Drive Alternative routes from Sandton

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES FROM SANDTON

Access to M1 North freeway from Sandton need to be done via Katherine Street onto Marlboro Drive

 

Motorists will be able to access Sandton and Wynberg from the M1 South freeway coming from Pretoria and from the M1 North freeway coming from Johannesburg

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES FROM WYNBERG

Access to M1 North Freeway from Wynberg need to be done via Pretoria Main Road onto Marlboro Drive.

 

Motorists will still be able to access Sandton to Wynberg and vice versa via Grayston Drive.
