Flight update due to volcanic ash - Italy - 9 May

Due to the Volcanic eruption in Icaland, air traffic in Northern Italy has been restricted. Alitalia and Airone communicate that Sunday 9th May from 08 to 2pm (Rome time) flights to and from Turin, Genoa, Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate, Bergamo, Pisa, Bologna and Florence are cancelled.

Alitalia strongly recommends checking the status your flight prior to proceeding to the airport. To check your flight status click here (if your flight is operated by another airline, please contact the operating carrier for information).

Alitalia will provide a full ticket refund without penalty to all passengers affected by the cancellations who are unable to reschedule their flights or unable to accept alternate flight options. Requests for refunds must be made by June 15th, 2010.

To request ticket refunds for travel affected by the volcanic activity, passengers must follow the procedure outlined below:

  • For tickets purchased on alitalia.com, Alitalia's call center or any Alitalia ticket counter please send an email to assistenza@alitalia.it after 20th May. Remember to include the first and last name of the passenger, telephone number along with the flight number and date for which the refund is being requested. Requests for refunds may also be made by contacting Alitalia's call center at + 39 06 22 22
