KLM advise - Check-in during the holiday season
Saturday 18, December 2010
Between 12 December 2010 and 2 January 2011, more passengers than usual depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This will result in long queues at the check-in desks, passport control and security checks, especially from Fridays to Mondays.
Make sure you are at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at least three hours before departure. Check-in at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is available from 04.30 hrs local time.
Are you travelling to the United States? Make sure you have applied for ESTA travel approval. This is mandatory for all travellers from Visa Waiver Programme countries, such as the Netherlands.
To avoid long queues, you can check in online at KLM.com, from 30 hours prior to departure (24 for travel to the United States) and print out your boarding pass at home. Or check in with your mobile phone and opt for an e-boarding pass.
Next, drop any check-in luggage you might have at one of the baggage drop-off points at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Do you want to bring more baggage on top of the free baggage allowance? During online check-in at KLM.com you can easily arrange this – and at a 20% discount on the excess baggage fee.
Plan your trips with the help of great resources
More and more travellers think that researching and planning a European city break is half the fun and they're not interested in pre-arranged trips or escorted tours. Self-guided tours offer a lot of advantages but require some guidance and good resources.
