Tourists more put off by epidemic than by terrorist attack
New research from Skyscanner reveals a third of travellers (31%) felt an epidemic would put them off of a destination for longest with 21% citing a terrorist attack, 20%, civil unrest and 17%, a natural disaster.

International Tourism: First Results of 2010 confirm Upward Trend
International tourism is steadily gaining momentum following an extremely challenging 2009. International tourist arrivals grew by 7% in the first two months of 2010 worldwide, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. Growth was particularly strong in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. UNWTO forecasts international tourist arrivals to grow by 3% to 4% in 2010.

The travel recovery is underway but remains fragile
The report, compiled for ETC by Tourism Economics, shows that overnight visits to European destinations declined 6% in 2009 while international travel around the world fell an estimated 4.7% against the headwinds of the global recession.
