The Vasa Museum is a maritime museum in Stockholm. Located on the island of Djurgarden, the museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628.

The Royal Palace of Stockholm is His Majesty The King's official residence and is also the setting for most of the monarchy's official receptions. The palace is a daily place of work for The King and Queen as well as for the various departments that make up the Royal Court. The palace is built in baroque style by the architect Nicodemus Tessin and is formed as a Roman palace. The palace has more than 600 rooms divided between seven floors with a state apartment facing the city and smaller living rooms facing the inner courtyard. In addition to the Royal Apartments there are three museums steeped in regal history: the Treasury with the regalia, the Tre Kronor Museum that portrays the palaces medieval history and Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities.

Over the years about 150 historical buildings have been moved to Skansen from nearly every part of Sweden. The many exhibits over the 75 acre site include a full replica of an average 19th-century town, in which craftsmen in traditional dress such as tanners, shoemakers, silversmiths, bakers and glass-blowers demonstrate their skills in period surroundings. There is even a small patch growing tobacco used for the making of cigarettes. There is also an open-air zoo containing a wide range of Scandinavian animals

 

MILLESGARDEN

Opening hours: October-14 May 12:00-17:00, 15 May-September 11:00-17:00

Tickets: 90 SEK/adult, free for children up to 19 years

Getting there: Metro 13 - Ropsten and Bus - Torsvik

Millesgarden can be termed a work of art in its own right, a nicely balanced stage design of terraces, fountains, stairways, sculptures and columns, coupled with a diversity of vegetation and an immense vista across the waters of Värtan from the rocky heights of Herserud.

The Kaknäs tower is a TV tower in Stockholm. The tower is a major hub of Swedish television, radio and satellite broadcasts. It was finished in 1967, designed by architect Bengt Lindroos, and the height is 155 meters (including antenna 170 meters).

The Drottningholm Palace is on UNESCO´s World Heritage list. It is the most well-preserved royal castle built in the 1600s in Sweden and at the same time is representative of all European architecture for the period. The combination of the exotic Chinese Pavilion pleasure palace, the palace theatre and the magnificent palace gardens make a visit to Drottningholm a unique experience. The Palace has been the present Royal Family's permanent residence. The rooms in the southern wing of the palace are reserved for this purpose. The rest of the palace and grounds are open to the public year round.

Drottningholm Slottsteater is filled with royal history. It was added to UNESCO's World Heritage list in 1991 as an exquisite example of 18th century European royal architecture and interior decoration. A careful restoration has ensured that Drottningholms Slottsteater looks like it did 300 years ago. Visitors are invited to take a tour to see the ornate decorations inside the theatre, visit the backstage area, find out about history that surrounds the building, and learn about the set, one of the most advanced in Europe for that period and still impressive today.
