Tenerife Tourism Corporation launches new website
Thursday 25, March 2010
The Tenerife Tourism Corporation is delighted to announce the launch of its new website offering a fresh new look and improved user-friendly functionality. Already attracting over 2 million visits per year, the newly revamped website (webtenerife.com) has been redesigned to provide better accessibility to information on the island as well as useful tools to help plan and book holidays to Tenerife.
The new, attractive design uses intuitive navigation techniques whilst a white background and variety of images have been used strategically to improve user-friendliness and clarity. The content which is available in English as well as Spanish, German, French and Italian, is divided into five different categories: Activities, Places of interest, Accommodation, About Tenerife and Useful Information. Additional content includes a calendar of events, weather forecast, maps, downloadable brochures and further subcategories.
Jose Manuel Bermudez, Vice-president of the Tenerife Island Government and Councillor for Tourism said during the official launch of the website “This new design will allow easy access to tourist information on the island and aims to encourage people to explore the great diversity of Tenerife’s natural landscapes, to embrace its culture and to discover all the options available year round”. Mr. Bermudez also highlighted the importance of online presence: “Seven out of 10 of our visitors use the internet to search information and plan their holiday. In addition, 12% of people who have stayed in Tenerife visited our website”.
The new website also features Spain’s only multi-product online booking system. The new tool which was developed by Segittur (Spain’s Innovation and Tourist Technologies National Management Society) can be accessed through webtenerife.com and allows visitors to purchase excursions, hotels, flights, car hire, tee times at golf courses and tickets to theme parks.
The system differs from other online booking systems as it provides a multi-product search tool which enables users to search several products through one system and even create their own dynamic package by choosing where to stay, what to see and do. Visitors are also given the opportunity to book through a travel agent.
Tenerife Tourism Corporation aims to build a closer relationship between companies and travellers through this system, although it will not be involved in the actual booking process.
The creation of this multi-product online booking system follows research, showing that more and more people use the internet to research and book holidays and that 50% of British holidaymakers in Tenerife used the internet to purchase their holidays.
