Triathlon across three cities - Paris-Brussels-London

To celebrate its partnership with London 2012 Eurostar is holding the first ever triathlon event across three cities in one day - 14 September 2010 - with a swim in Paris, bike in Brussels and run in London: the Eurostar Tri-City-Athlon.

The swim

A 1.5km swim in the Bassin de la Villette in Paris. The Bassin de la Villette is located in the 19th arrondissement and is the largest artificial lake in Paris.

The bike

A 40km ride on the roads around the King Baudouin I Stadium area (formerly Heysel Stadium) in the north-west of Brussels. Participants will complete 5 laps of an 8km circuit. For safety, the roads will be closed to cars during the event.

The run

A 10km run in Regents Park, one of the Royal Parks of London, located just to the north of Central London. Participants will complete 3 laps of a 3.3km circuit within the park.

Facilities

There will be a dedicated Medical Director on hand during each stage of the triathlon, who will also travel with the participants throughout the day. A private area will be set up on board the Eurostar trains for anyone requiring treatment between stages. The Medical Director will be supported by local First Aid teams in each country.

Hot showers will be provided at the end of the day and there will be changing rooms at each location. Aid stations will be located around the various courses.

Competitors will be catered for with the on-board catering from Eurostar, tailored to an appropriate menu for competing athletes.
