Venetian masked ball to launch at Philippe Starck’s Italian hotel

Venice is one of most beautiful cities in the World and the best time to visit is during the infamous Venetian Masked Ball.

This year, with the city choosing the theme ‘Life is theatre’, the World famous PalazzinaG Hotel will be setting off proceedings as they open the Carnevale di Venezia 2012. To celebrate, they have joined forces with luxury events agency Meredith Bespoke Ltd, to produce a spectacular weekend of “Impulsive Elegance”.

Located on the stunning Canal Grande, PalazzinaG designed by Philippe Starck, is one of the most decadent, combining impeccable luxury with alluring tradition. It houses a bespoke twenty two rooms alongside a multitude of impressive features including the private Krug Lounge, the second only in the world and the glamorous PG club. Since its opening, the hotel with its innovative contemporary design and unparalleled location, has established itself as the hotspot of the city during festivals.

PalazzinaG has always taken an innovative approach to celebrating Venetian festivities, dynamically recreating Bungalow 8 for the parties of the last three annual Film Festivals. In collaborating with Meredith Bespoke for a series of events in 2012, they continue this trend cementing their reputation as the place to see and be seen in Venice. The weekend of 10th February will be no exception, as together they will present a show stopping bacchanal of feasting, frivolity and fun.

The historical annual festival attended by 30,000 visitors each day, celebrated throughout Italy, always takes place during the ten days leading up to Shrove Tuesday. Carnival, being a pre-Lent festival, means ‘farewell to meat’. With this excuse, people put a mask and costume on, parade around the city, enjoy the live music and the open-air festival.

Since its inauguration the list of celebrities who have turned up and danced on the tables at PalazzinaG reads like a who’s who of Vanity Fair cover stars. Madonna has taken to the decks, George Clooney has popped in, and couples Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie along with Johnny Deep and Vanessa Paradis have stayed in. Queen of New York nightlife, Amy Sacco, has hosted a series of legendary parties, James Franco threw a diner and Al Pacino didn't want to leave...

With 16 rooms and six suite apartments, accommodation within the PalazzinaG Hotel will be booked up quickly, so for a chance to be in the heart of this phenomenal event speed will be of the essence.

Friday 10th February Opening Party:
Carnevale di Venezia 2012. VIP masquerade party with cocktails exclusively prepared by the mixologists of Nardini Grappa.
Entrance: 35 euros (including one cocktail)
Tables start at 600 euros (including 2 bottles of Krug or spirit)

Nardini represents this classic Italian spirit at its very best. It has long been applauded as producing the most consistent, premium quality grappa available. Nardini Grappa is as complex as any cognac and as noble as any malt, but it's also surprisingly adaptable. That is why Nardini is the only grappa brand to appear in Schumann's 'American Bar', one of the definitive texts for professional bartenders and has been nominated Harrod’s February 2012 ‘Spirit of the Month’. Nardini will be the perfect symbiosis with the PalazzinaG’s Masked Ball to present an enticing twist on tradition.

Saturday 11th February – PG’s Veuve Clicquot Gala:
Decadent Dinner - Luxurious Libations - Masked Merriment.
The stunning five menu course, at 250€ per head, consists of amuse bouche and for starters, broccoli mousse and marinated salmon. There will be potato ‘gnocchi’ with goat cheese and black truffle as a middle course, followed by a slice of grilled turbot for the main course. To finish the delicious dinner, nougat parfait will be served for dessert. Three cocktails are included.

For both events the dress code is impulsive elegance.
