Villa San Michele introduces new ‘seasonal tastes of Tuscany’ cookery courses

Italy is famous world-over for it is delicious cuisine and there can be nowhere more idyllic to learn about the diverse and authentic flavours of the country’s vibrant gastronomic scene than at the Cookery School at Villa San Michele in Florence.
New this season, the hotel is introducing ‘Seasonal Tastes of Tuscany’ which invites guests to experiment with local ingredients when they are at their very best.

The one day ‘Seasonal Tastes of Tuscany’ cookery courses are the ideal introduction to fine local fare that uses the freshest produce available that month.
14th & 28th May 2011 – Guests will learn about spring delights such as asparagus, artichokes and broad beans.
9th & 23rd July 2011 – Focus on summer recipes including eggplant parmigiana, tomato soup and fresh Florentine Salad.
10th & 24th September 2011 – Risottos created with autumnal mushrooms, the many varieties found in the nearby Chianti woods add rich flavours to this heart warming favourite.
15th & 22nd October 2011 – Guests will discover how the powerful flavours of truffle, one of nature’s gourmet wonders, can transform the simplest of dishes such as scrambled eggs.
The ‘Seasonal Tastes of Tuscany’ cookery course starts from 275 Euros (approx £245) inc VAT, per person and includes all activities, the portfolio of recipes, the School of Cookery apron, and lunch served with regional wines.
‘Seasonal Tastes of Tuscany’ joins a host of other cookery courses at Villa San Michele, including the six-day Florentine cookery course ‘Italian Intermezzo’ and the ever popular four-day ‘Symphony of Pasta’ cookery course, as well as a selection of shorter but still comprehensive half-day cooking experiences. All are sure to delight even the most sophisticated of gourmets!
